In a nicer way, of course.  She said she missed reading the posts on my blogs.  And that the personal touch of combining tales of life in Flagstaff with good business information was what  attracted her to my blog in the first place.  And she wanted to read more.

Why I'm bloggingSo obviously (since you are reading this), I’m back.  I’m blogging again because I have something to say.  And I had quit blogging last March because I didn’t have much to say.  If I were one of those dedicated bloggers  you read about, I would blog every single day whether I had anything to say or not.  All the hype that I’ve read about blogging tells me that blogging isn’t about saying anything significant.  It’s just about creating a presence on the web and building your business through this presence.  It’s like creating a radio show where you’re the star and you’re on at the same time, same day, same station.  If you have nothing to say, you’re still on and you say whatever comes to mind.

Maybe so.  But that’s not me.  I’m too busy to just ramble on while saying nothing.  But, come to think of it, that’s probably what I’m doing right now.  I’m writing as I think.  I don’t even know if anyone is reading or going to read this.  When it comes right down to it, I could be talking to myself.  But that’s not all bad.  I don’t know if you know it or not, but I’m a professional writer — have written for many magazines through the years and am now a staff writer for “Rave Reviews” - the national full-color trade magazine for my industry (which, in case you don’t know, is gifts and gift baskets).  I have to produce articles on schedule whether I have an idea or not.  And what produces those ideas?  Writing.  Like this.  As I write, thoughts break through the cloud cover in my brain and I’m on my way.  And that’s why I’m back to blogging.

All of us have experiences and knowledge to share.  It’s just a matter of breaking through the haze.  I’ve decided that I enjoy talking to myself and if possibly someone is listening (or in this case reading), I have much to share.  And I invite you to join in.  Share your opinions with your comments as I ramble on in this blog.  I’ll be talking about life in Flagstaff, how the economy has affected the local small business community, and on a much broader scale sharing ideas of how you can create a business based on customer service with a personal touch.  So here I am, once again.  Join me.  I don’t think you’ll be bored.
